Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Retrospective Non-Randomized Analytical Cohort Study of Completed SARS-CoV2 COVID19 Cases
University of Bern
The COVID-PCD is a participatory research project that aims to study how COVID-19 affects people with primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). The study is advertised through patient support groups and participants register online and answer a baseline questionnaire with details on PCD diagnosis, habitual symptoms, and COVID-19 episodes occurring before study entry. A short weekly follow-up questionnaire includes questions on incident SARS-CoV-2 infections, current symptoms, social contact behaviour, and physical activity. Occasionally, participants receive extra questionnaires focused on special topics. The study is hosted at the University of Bern and recruitment started on May 30th, 2020.
ContraFect
This is an open-label, expanded access study of exebacase used in addition to antistaphylococcal antibiotics in adult patients with persistent methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bloodstream infections (BSI), including right-sided endocarditis (R-IE), who are hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Patients with left-sided endocarditis (L-IE) are excluded. Patients will receive a single dose of exebacase. Patients will continue to receive antistaphylococcal antibiotics as prescribed by the treating physician. Exebacase Phase 3 study sites (Study CF-301-105) may participate in this Expanded Access study (Study CF-301-107). Exebacase, a direct lytic agent, is an entirely new treatment modality against S. aureus. Exebacase is a recombinantly-produced, purified cell wall hydrolase enzyme that results in rapid bacteriolysis, potent biofilm eradication, synergy with antibiotics, low propensity for resistance, and the potential to suppress antibiotic resistance when used together with antibiotics. Exebacase represents a first-in-field, first-in-class treatment with the potential to improve clinical outcome when used in addition to standard-of-care antibiotics to treat S. aureus BSI including IE.

Study of ANA001 in Moderate and Severe COVID-19 Patients
University of Texas at Austin
Our purpose is to conduct a 4-arm placebo-controlled clinical trial to investigate the relative clinical efficacy of 300 mg. of pure hemp-derived CBD isolate, 300 mg. of full spectrum CBD oil, 300 mg. of broad- spectrum CBD Oil, or Placebo oil among adults presenting with COVID-19 -induced stress reactions including one or more of the following: anxiety, depression, anger, substance use, or sleep disturbance.
Uppsala University
The study aims to investigate organ dysfunction and biomarkers in patients with suspected or verified COVID-19 during intensive care at Uppsala University Hospital.

In December 2019, Wuhan, in Hubei province, China, became the center of an outbreak of pneumonia caused by CoVID-19, and the number of cases of infection with CoVID-19 identified in Wuhan increased markedly over the later part of January 2020, with cases identified in multiple other Provinces of China and internationally.Given no specific antiviral therapy for CoVID-19 infection and the availability of Yinhu Qingwen Granula as a potential antiviral Chinese medicine based on vivo antiviral studies in CoVID-19, this adaptive, randomized,double-blind,controlled trial will evaluate the efficacy and safety of Yinhu Qingwen Granula in patients hospitalized with severe CoVID-19.

The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is a new strain of coronavirus found in human in 2019, which causes epidemic worldwide. Novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) causes acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in patients with severe COVID-19. Pulmonary edema is the key detrimental feature of ALI/ARDS. Autopsy of patients died from COVID-19 reported that, pulmonary mucus exudation was more severe and obvious than SARS infection. Pulmonary CT scanning and pathological findings also suggest that pulmonary edema caused by inflammatory exudation is a distinguished feature of COVID-19. Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), also known as vascular permeability factor (VPF), is known as the most potent factor to increase vascular permeability, with the induction effect 50,000 times stronger than histamine. Bevacizumab is an anti-VEGF recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody, which has been used in anti-tumor treatment since 2004, with considerable reliability and clinical safety. This trial will provide high level evidence to answer whether bevacizumab is efficacy and safe medication for patients with severe COVID-19.
