Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Determination of both the degree and duration of the immunity provided after receiving the BNT162b2 vaccine against SARS-Cov-2.
ImmunityBio, Inc.
This is a phase 1b randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in adult subjects with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This clinical trial will evaluate the preliminary safety and efficacy of BM-Allo.MSC vs placebo in treating subjects with severe disease requiring ventilator support during COVID 19 infection.

Since december 2019, acute respiratory disease due to 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) emerged in Wuhan city and rapidly spread throughout China. There is no confirmed antivirus therapy for 2019-nCoV infection. Natural killer (NK) cells are innate lymphocytes that may serve as useful effectors against danger infection. The purpose of this clinical investigation is to evaluate the safety and efficiency of NK Cells in combination with standard therapy for pneumonia patients infected with 2019-nCoV.
Entos Pharmaceuticals Inc.
This study is a Phase I/II clinical study in healthy adults designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of receiving 2 IM injections of Covigenix VAX-001/-1b, 28 days apart. Covigenix VAX-001/-1b is a plasmid DNA vaccine that expresses key antigenic determinants from SARS-CoV-2 and uses Entos Pharmaceuticals' Fusogenix PLV platform. The phase I part of this study was completed in Canada. The phase II part of the study will be completed in Burkina Faso, Senegal and South Africa.
Jiangsu Province Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
This is a phase I, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study, to evaluate safety and immunogenicity of a recombinant SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (CHO cell) in Chinese healthy population aged 18 years and older. After randomization, the trial for each subject will last for approximately 13 months. Screening period is 1 week prior to randomization (Day -7 to Day -1), and each dose of either SARS-CoV-2 vaccine (CHO Cell) or placebo will be given intramuscularly (IM) on Day 0 and Day 14 for a two-dose regimen, or on Day 0, Day 14, and Day 28 for a three-dose regimen. Subjects who are ≥18 years old and ≤ 59 years old will be enrolled in adult group, and healthy elderly population who are >59 years old will be enrolled in elderly group. After adult group completes the follow-up 7 days after first vaccination, elderly group will be recruited.
National Natural Science Foundation of China
The study is designed to assess whether allergic rhinitis and allergen immunotherapy affect the humoral response to SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination in adults. This is a prospective study enrolling a total of approximately 120 subjects, 18-55 years old.
SK Bioscience Co., Ltd.
This is a 2-Stage, Phase III, randomized, active-controlled, observer-blind, parallel-group, multi-center study to compare the immunogenicity and safety of SK SARS-CoV-2 recombinant nanoparticle vaccine adjuvanted with AS03 (GBP510) to ChAdOx1-S in adults aged 18 years and older.
Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc.
This is a Phase 2a randomized, placebo-controlled study designed to investigate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of COVI-MSC in treating post COVID-19 "long haul" pulmonary compromise.

The United States (U.S.) is the country with the largest number of infections and deaths due to COVID- 19 and racial/ethnic minorities are disproportionately affected. Acceptance and uptake of COVID-19 vaccines will be instrumental to ending the pandemic. To this end, 2VIDA! (SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Intervention Delivery for Adults in Southern California) is a multilevel intervention to address individual, social, and contextual factors related to access to, and acceptance of, the COVID-19 vaccine by implementing and assessing a COVID-19 vaccination protocol among Latino and African American (AA) adults (>18 years old) in San Diego. 2VIDA! builds on our previous CBPR efforts and centers on conducting COVID-19 Individual awareness and education, linkages to medical and supportive services, and Community Outreach and Health Promotion in the intervention sites (Phase 1); and offering the COVID-19 vaccine to Latino and AA adults (>18 years old) in federally-qualified health centers and pop-up vaccination stations in communities highly impacted by the pandemic and identifying individual and structural barriers to COVID-19 immunization (Phase 2).
SK Bioscience Co., Ltd.
This is a first-in-human, Phase I/II, randomized, placebo-controlled, observer-blinded, age-escalating study to assess the safety, reactogenicity and immunogenicity of a SK SARS-CoV-2 recombinant protein nanoparticle vaccine (GBP510) adjuvanted with or without AS03 in healthy younger and older adults.
