Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This feasibility study aims to adapt a protocol usually run in the laboratory in the Psychology Department for healthy participants (including the trauma film paradigm (James et al., 2016) and a simple cognitive task intervention) to remote (online) delivery. The motivation for this was restrictions to running in person laboratory experiments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants will view film footage with COVID-19 related and potentially traumatic content (e.g. of seriously ill or dying patients in hospitals). Following film viewing, participants will be randomly allocated to either the experimental condition (simple cognitive task intervention, i.e. a memory cue followed by playing the computer game "Tetris" with mental rotation instructions) or the control condition (attention placebo, i.e., a memory cue followed by listening to a podcast for a similar duration). Any intrusive memories induced by the film (analogue trauma) will be monitored in a daily diary. It is predicted that the film (analogue trauma) will generate intrusive memories. If intrusive memories are generated, then it is predicted that participants in the experimental condition will report fewer intrusive memories related to the film (analogue trauma) during the following week than participants in the control condition. The development of this paradigm may inform the future development of a simple technique to prevent intrusive memories e.g. after repeated media consumption related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For many patients with hematologic disorders and bone marrow failure, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) or cellular therapy (CART) offers a curative treatment option. Patients after SCT or CART have a variable period of immune deficiency in the post-treatment period. The response to vaccination may affect the outcome of the transplant patients. the immunogenicity of vaccines in this immunosuppressed population is uncertain and variable. HSCT and CAR-T recipients are in a COVID-19 high-risk group and conferring immunity by vaccination at the earliest effective timepoint is desirable. At present, the immunogenicity and efficacy of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in immune-impaired patients including autologous and allogeneic HSCT recipients is unknown. Furthermore, the impact of GvHD and IST on SARS-CoV-2 vaccine immunogenicity is unknown. the investigators aim to evaluate the vaccination response to COVID vaccines after SCT and CART

This is a randomized controlled trial of the efficacy of a tailored exercise program, based on multicomponent exercise training and/or inspiratory muscle training, compared to the WHO self-management leaflet commonly used in outpatient scenarios, on the recovery of persistent symptoms and functional limitations after COVID-19. . The primary objective of the study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of a tailored exercise-based treatment relative to the control arm in improving the subject clinical status in ambulatory patients.

Pregnant women are a vulnerable and high-risk population, as COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk preterm birth, cesarean section, and maternal critical care. This study will examine the factors that impede testing for SARS-CoV-2 (the causative virus among pregnant women), help determine optimal testing strategies by evaluating the necessity of testing for asymptomatic disease in pregnancy, inform prenatal care plans by assessing the full impact of infection, and contribute to a provider's ability to counsel women and create prenatal care plans if they are pregnant or considering pregnancy.

The current study will be a randomized controlled trial (RCT) investigating an adapted online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program versus daily online self-help mindfulness exercises, in preventing incident/prevalent psychopathology in healthcare workers allocated to work with COVID-19 patients. Outcome measures include depression, anxiety, somatoform symptoms, post-traumatic stress, insomnia, substance abuse, post-traumatic growth and positive mental health. The study also aims to explore possible working mechanisms such as perseverative thinking, mindfulness skills and self-compassion. The study will have a follow-up duration of 7 months from baseline.
Igenomix
A descriptive, clinical series, single-centre, national, biomedical study to determine the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in sperm samples from positive PCR patients for COVID-19 and to evaluate the presence of the virus in the sperm samples after a negative PCR for COVID-19
Rigshospitalet, Denmark
The aim of this study is to compare the SARS-CoV-2 detection rate using either a Saliva, oropharyngeal swabs or nasopharyngeal swab method for specimen collection.

The investigators hypothese that lung involvement due to COVID-19 may cause structural changes in the lung in the long term. In this study the effects of structural changes in the lung on pulmonary function tests, exercise capacity and quality of life will be examined.

The Respiratory infection COVID-19, due to a new coronavirus, SARS-CoV2, appeared in December 2019 in several people who attended the wildlife market in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. While COVID-19 has spread to nearly 200 countries and caused two millions infections, Lao PDR detected its first confirmed case very recently, on March 20, three months after the start of the outbreak in China. As of April 12th, 2020, Lao PDR has only recorded 18 confirmed cases, a very low number compared to other countries around the world. However, several key factors suggest that Lao PDR could be much more affected by COVID-19 because of the following reasons: (i) The multiple and massive trans-border movements between Lao PDR and China. (ii) The similar biogeographical and socio-ecological characteristics with South-Western China. (iii) The detection of a high diversity of Betacoronavirus sequences in several species of bats in Lao PDR. (iv) The numerous markets selling high volumes of local wildlife including bats and pangolins. LACOVISS project aim at investigating, using a ONE-HEALTH approach, this unexpected epidemiological pattern of SARS-CoV-2 in Lao PDR by bringing together an interdisciplinary team of experts in the field from IRD, the University of Caen, the Center of Infectiology Lao-Christophe Mérieux (CILM) and the National animal Health Laboratory (NAHL) in Vientiane. The study will focus on a community-based cohort of 1092 households, including 5400 study participants, followed-up between March 2015 and February 2019 for influenza-like illness investigation and causative agents detection (LACORIS project), located in the Vientiane metropolitan area. The COVID-19 progression in Lao PDR, and track SARS-CoV-2, will be followed retrospectively and prospectively, in all potential actors in SARS-CoV-2 circulation, including humans, domestic animals, and wildlife. The LACOVISS project will undoubtedly bring new insight in SARS-Cov-2 and SARS-CoV-like circulation in Lao PDR as well as valuable information on the natural history of COVID-19, and on the modalities of the spillover into humans, which are still largely unknown.
