Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Background: COVID-19 is an infection caused by a coronavirus. It can affect different parts of the body. For most people, it causes fevers or trouble breathing. Some people can have symptoms long after they recover. Researchers want to learn if there are signs of changes in the nervous system that may be related to COVID-19. Objective: To test the nervous system (the brain and nerves) in people who have had COVID-19 yet still have certain symptoms even after recovering. Eligibility: People age 18 and older who had COVID-19 and still have neurologic symptoms after they recovered from the initial infection. Design: Participants will be screened with a medical record review. Participants will have a neurological exam. They will complete pen-and-paper tests of their memory and thinking. They will complete a smell test with 'scratch-and-sniff' booklets. They will give blood samples. Participants will have magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. Soft padding or a coil will be placed around their head. They will lie on a table that slides in and out of the MRI scanner. They will get a contrast dye through an intravenous (IV) catheter. Participants blood pressure, blood flow, skin temperature, sweating, and breathing will be monitored. Participants will have an electrocardiogram to measure heart function. Participants will blow into a mouthpiece for several seconds. Participants will lie on a table that has a motor. The motor tilts the table. Participants will have blood drawn through an IV as the table tilts. Participants will have a lumbar puncture. A small needle will be inserted into the spinal canal to obtain fluid. Participants may repeat some tests 8 weeks to 1 year later.

Kit for reading vital signs (thermometer, wrist blood pressure device, finger oximeter) and with study drug is overnighted to qualified subjects with early symptoms of COVID-19. Subjects take a 20-milligram (mg) tab of famotidine or matching placebo twice a day, increase to 1 tablet every 8 hours if not better the 2nd day, and continue same for 30 days. Vital signs, symptoms, compliance etc are rechecked daily for the 30 days and once again 60 days after starting study drug. Consent, baseline, and follow-up are handled via internet plus calls/texts/virtual visits from study nurse or doctor as needed for clarifications and compliance.

This is a phase I trial followed by a phase II randomized trial. The purpose of phase I study is the feasibility of treating patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) related to COVID-19 infection (COVID-19) with cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). The purpose of the phase II trial is to compare the effect of MSC with standard of care in these patients. MSCs are a type of stem cells that can be taken from umbilical cord blood and grown into many different cell types that can be used to treat cancer and other diseases. The MSCs being used for infusion in this trial are collected from healthy, unrelated donors and are stored and grown in a laboratory. Giving MSC infusions may help control the symptoms of COVID-19 related ARDS.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical correlates of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with Functional movement disorder (FMD) and Parkinson s Disease (PD). Primary objectives: To evaluate the change in neurological symptoms domain of the survey between pre and post-COVID 19 in FMD and PD patients. Secondary objectives: - To evaluate the change in total score of the survey between pre and post COVID 19 in FMD and PD patients - To evaluate the change in other symptom domains of the survey between pre and post COVID 19 in FMD and PD patients. Domains include: Mood/Energy, sleep, symptoms of abnormal movements related or unrelated to primary disease, physical health and exercise related change Exploratory objectives: - To evaluate whether there is a modifying effect of disease group in the changes in total score or symptom domains - To evaluate whether there is a relationship between disease severity and changes in total score or symptom domains - To evaluate whether there is a correlation between changes across symptom domains - To evaluate whether there is a correlation in raw score across symptom domains within each period Research Methods: Data will be solely collected through the use of online instruments via CiSTAR as a designed questionnaire. Questionnaire items A questionnaire aimed at determining the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic and subsequent isolation on functional state of patients with FMD and PD. The questionnaire items include: Items investigating Mood/Energy before and after COVID 19 out break Items investigating Sleep habits before and after COVID 19 out break Items investigating Neurological symptoms before and after COVID 19 out break Items investigating daily functioning before and after COVID 19 out break Items investigating Exercise habits before and after COVID 19 out break No questionnaire items will be actionable , which are items that would identify an imminent risk for participant safety requiring urgent and immediate medical or psychiatric

Patients on dialysis are at risk for several infectious diseases, since they have reduced immunological and have to regularly attend dialysis centres even if a pandemic is going on. Dialysis patients and healthcare professionals of dialysis centres can become infected one with the other. The incident risk of COVID-19 in dialysis centres is still unknown. Given the challenges of an early diagnosis of COVID-19, the likely transmission with outbreaks, the possibility of reciprocal transmission of the infection among patients and healthcare professionals, the frequent clinical severity of COVID-19 in dialysis patients because of the coexistence of several comorbidities, CONTACT TRACING could be an effective and efficient tool to contrast COVID-19 spreading in dialysis centres.

Background: SARS-CoV-2 is the virus that causes COVID. It has caused a global pandemic. Most people have no to mild symptoms. But some people need to be hospitalized, and a small number need critical care. Older age as well as some socio-demographic factors and chronic health conditions may play a role in the severity of COVID. In this study, researchers want to assess sociodemographic-, population-, disease-, and gene-based risks for features associated with severe SARS-CoV-2 outcomes. As more is understood about COVID, researchers also want to learn more about people s experiences with COVID vaccines, long-haul symptoms, and other related disease features. Objective: To measure the frequency and severity of COVID infection in people with rare and common diseases, looking for conditions that increase risk of severe outcomes. To describe experiences with COVID vaccines, symptoms, and other features of COVID in people with rare and common diseases. Eligibility: People greater than 1 month of age, both with and without rare disease, who have access to the Internet. Design: This study will take place online. Participants will visit a website. They will fill out a survey. It should take less than 30 minutes to complete. They will answer questions about their current health and COVID experiences. They will answer questions about their demographic and location features that may impact their exposure to the virus. All questions are optional. Participants may repeat the survey if their responses indicate a need for follow-up. Participants medical records may be reviewed. Participants may be contacted for future studies related to: COVID Their underlying health conditions A new exposure that is being studied....

This Phase 1 study is being conducted to support the clinical development of acalabrutinib in hospitalized patients who are unable to swallow acalabrutinib tablet or capsule due to respiratory failure, eg, they may require endotracheal intubation for ventilator support and nasogastric (NG) tube placement, and it is important to have a clinically acceptable method to administer acalabrutinib via NG tube. Part 1 of the study is designed to evaluate relative bioavailability by comparing the pharmacokinetic (PK) of AT suspension in water administered via NG tube with the PK of acalabrutinib capsule suspension in flat COCA-COLA administered via NG tube. Additionally, the PPI effect will be evaluated by comparing the PK of AT suspension in water administered via NG tube plus rabeprazole with the PK of AT suspension in water administered via NG tube. Part 2 of the study is designed to evaluate the effect of NG administration on AT by comparing the PK of AT suspension in water administered via NG tube with the PK of AT orally administered with water.
