Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of SARS-COV-2 infection on metabolic status in patients with diabetes mellitus. Patients' HbA1c levels before and after SARS-COV-2 infection will be evaluated.

All hospitalised patients with COVID-19 who have positive RT-PCR for SARS-COV-2 will be included in the study. The patients will be divided into two groups, as diabetics and non-diabetics. The COVID-19 patients' medical records will be evaluated and compared in terms of the duration of hospitalization, the presence of lung involvement in Computerised Tomography, the need for intensive care unit and mortality rates in patients with and without diabetes.

Given the current lack of an effective drug or therapy, a clinical trial to better understand the safety and efficacy of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) in COVID-19 patients is urgently needed. The goal of this trial is to study the efficacy and safety of TPE therapy in subjects with moderate to severe COVID-19 by determining the morbidity and mortality after TPE therapy.

Due to COVID 19 (Corona virus disease)pandemic, majority of surgeries, including surgery for cancer patients got delayed across the globe. Surgeries were limited to emergency set up only. At our institute we tried to perform colorectal cancer surgeries through out the pandemic, albeit in less numbers, as we thought cancer in itself is an emergency setting. we are planning to analyse the prospectively managed database of this particular group of patients over a period of last six 6 months and look out at 30 day post operative morbidity and mortality. Besides we will try to analyse the implications of our decision to carry on with cancer surgeries in terms of number of health care workers who got infected while being involved in primary care of these patients.

Acute Respiratory Distress syndrome (ARDS) is a pulmonary systematic inflammatory response, leading to acute respiratory failure with hypoxia and/or hypercarbia. COVID-19 evokes a viral pneumonia, which may result in ARDS as well. It is not yet clear if COVID-19 disease behaves like the typical ARDS. Corona virus causes primarily deep hypoxia. Hypoxia, on its own, can lead to long term cognitive impairment. However, critical illness also affects long-term neurocognitive functioning. The investigators will be researching the possibility of long-term cognitive impairment in COVID-19 ICU patients, in comparison with reference values of a healthy population as well as the values measured in critically ill patients, admitted not only for respiratory reasons.
HiFiBiO Therapeutics
The purpose of this study is to test the safety and tolerability of HFB30132A when it is given by intravenously to healthy participants. Blood tests will be done to check how much HFB30132A is in the bloodstream and how long the body takes to eliminate it. Participation may include up to ten visits to the study center.
Novotech (Australia) Pty Limited
This study is designed to assess the safety, tolerability and Pharmacokinetic Properties of Niclosamide Injectable (DWRX2003) in healthy volunteers.
University of Florida
This is a phase II study to test adenosine efficacy for down-regulation of the overwhelming inflammation of COVID-19 in the lungs as reflected by clinical recovery of lung function; resolution of clinically relevant markers of lung function, and resolution of systemic markers of inflammation and coagulation.
Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
This is a feasibility study taking place at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH), Hôpital Montfort, and Queensway Carleton Hospital that seeks to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on family member bereavement and study the effect of virtual support groups on reducing risk of developing Severe Grief Reaction (SGR). This project is inviting family members of deceased patients at either of the three before mentioned sites to enroll in this study.
