Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This concerns a single-center prospective interventional cohort study. Laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients will be asked to donate blood at at least two different timepoints. This will allow us to investigate T and B cell evolutions during the course of infection and recovery. The expected duration of the study is four months or the total duration of the SARS-CoV-2 circulation in Belgium (whichever is shortest).
Max Healthcare Insititute Limited
This is an observational study for Corona virus disease by the Max Healthcare.Corona virus 2019 disease (COVID-19) is a respiratory tract infectious disease caused by a newly emergent corona virus. This virus is linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of common cold.

Some authors have proposed the use of the flu vaccine to reduce the severity of COVID-19 cases, while some have proposed the use of ACE Inhibitors (ACEI) or Angiotensin Receptor blockers (ARB), since this virus shares hemagglutinin as a transmission mechanism and acts on the ACE2 enzyme during infection. Other authors described how none of the elderly patients receiving antihistamines and azythromycin in two nursing homes in Toledo -Spain- during the first wave died or needed hospital admission, even considering that 100% of residents had a positive serological test after that wave. Other authors have described a positive evolution in patients receiving amantadine for their Parkinson's disease. The aim is to evaluate whether the admitted patients who are previously vaccinated or those who were already receiving these treatments showed a better evolution.
Hôpital Cochin
This study evaluates the effects of the addition of chlorpromazine to the standard therapeutic protocol in COVID-19 patients hospitalized for respiratory symptom management (score 3-5 WHO Ordinal Scale for Clinical Improvement).

A.O. Ospedale Papa Giovanni XXIII
The primary goal of the study is to conduct the first systematic cardiac autopsy study in 60 patients dying from COVID-19 to understand the pathology and pathogenesis of cardiac injury in patients with COVID-19, with/without cardiovascular comorbidities. Such data is essential for understanding rate of involvement, type of involvement and degree of injury in patients contracting the disease.
Duke University
The purpose of this data repository is to provide a secure and centralized storage location and resource for the collection of essential data and medical specimens, across COVID-19 related protocols at Duke.

The investigators aim to characterise Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in every age group. On the one hand, emphasis is put on the initial presentation, clinical course, outcome and the therapy used. On the other hand further investigations regarding viral and bacterial coinfections, and response of the immune system will be conducted. This study should serve to improve the understanding of COVID-19, to identify risk factors for a severe clinical course and to obtain further insights into pathophysiology of this new infectious disease.

There is no predictive tool for patients admitted to the emergency department with a suspicion of Covid-19 that will worsen secondarily and require a heavy lifting. In a context of saturation of the healthcare system by the pandemic at Covid-19,it is essential to identify specific, accessible prognostic markers via minimally invasive sampling with low risk of infection for personnel caregiver, for optimal allocation of resuscitation resources. This study proposes to evaluate the biological markers of routine care known to be associated with resuscitation admission in relation to hospitalization on conventional service for the prediction of worsening of patients admitted to the emergencies for Covid-19.
Northwestern Medicine
The purpose of this study is two-fold. First we would like to confirm that non-contact ECG provides equivalency to current contact methods of obtaining ECG data. Second we would like to investigate whether non-contact ECG can detect ECG changes prior to the onset symptoms from COVID19.
