Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of an augmented version of our current evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Group Therapy (CBGT) for perinatal anxiety protocol with cognitive and behavioural strategies composed of critical COVID-related anxiety, worry, and impact content.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of intravenous administration of bone marrow derived extracellular vesicles, ExoFlo, versus placebo as treatment for moderate-to-severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) in patients with severe COVID-19.
National University Hospital, Singapore
The study aims to longitudinally track the onset, severity and recovery of changes in chemosensory acuity (smell and/or taste loss) among those suspected of COVID-19 infection. Using standardised questionnaire and testing approaches, the investigators aim to objectively characterise and measure temporal changes in taste and smell to confirm the prevalence of these symptoms as an early marker of infection. Information on symptoms experience, changes in appetite and food-related quality of life will be also be assessed via questionnaire. The results of the study will help individuals who experience a loss of smell and/or taste to self-isolate and/or self-refer to a medical professional, if an association between smell and/or taste and COVID-19 infection is found.
Advanced Cooling Therapy, Inc., d/b/a Attune Medical
The purpose of the proposed pilot study is to determine if core warming improves respiratory physiology of mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19, allowing earlier weaning from ventilation, and greater overall survival.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
ACTT-3 will evaluate the combination of interferon beta-1a and remdesivir compared to remdesivir alone. Subjects will be assessed daily while hospitalized. If the subjects are discharged from the hospital, they will have a study visit at Days 15, 22, and 29. For discharged subjects, it is preferred that the Day 15 and 29 visits are in person to obtain safety laboratory tests and oropharyngeal (OP) swab and blood (serum only) samples for secondary research as well as clinical outcome data. However, infection control or other restrictions may limit the ability of the subject to return to the clinic. In this case, these visits may be conducted by phone, and only clinical data will be obtained. The Day 22 visit does not have laboratory tests or collection of samples and is conducted by phone. The primary outcome is time to recovery by Day 29.
Groupe Hospitalier Paris Saint Joseph
The Coronavirus SARS CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic is causing a major global health crisis that is disrupting our hospital organizations and creating potential infectious risks for hospital staff on the front line when it comes to the support of infected people. In this context, the Paris Saint-Joseph Hospital Group (GhPSJ) very early on wanted to implement an institutional approach aimed, on the one hand, at enabling each of its employees at its two sites (Hôpital Paris Saint-Joseph (HPSJ), Paris 14ème and Hôpital Marie Lannelongue (HML), Le Plessis Robinson, 92) to access their serological status with regard to SARS-CoV-2 and, on the other hand, to identify the risk factors for contracting COVID-19. This collective approach consisted of an evaluation of its professional practices aimed at assessing the protective measures put in place to protect hospital personnel and identifying sources of potential improvement in the management of the infectious risk required to put in place in case of upcoming COVID-19 cases or any other epidemics in the future.

Patients affected by new coronavirus infectious disease (COVID) were mostly hospitalized in ICU. This infection seems to cause widespread organ injury (i.e acute renal injury, neurological disorders, pulmonary embolism,…). It is therefore necessary to provide a framework for the follow up of patients. Moreover SARS-CoV-2 infection consequences remain unknow at this time. Study hypothesis is that COVID alters determining factors (physical or psychological) of quality of life after ICU hospitalisation. The aim of the study is to assess quality of life 3 months after ICU hospitalization. Secondary purposes of the study are 1) assessment of quality of life 6 months and the evolution between the third and the sixth months after ICU hospitalization 2) description patients care after 3 and 6 months ICU left and their clinical status 3) convening and providing a "platform" within several physicians (neurologist, biologist, pneumologist…) will be able to follow up patients and perform complementary investigations according to patients injuries.
University of Sao Paulo
This research aims to investigate the incidence, clinical condition, mode of transmission and laboratory data of women and their babies, who were exposed to COVID-19 infection during pregnancy. This project will consist of 4 subprojects, being that Subprojects 1 and 2, will be of the observational, longitudinal type of prospective Cohort; Subproject 3 will be of prevalence; Subproject 4 will be case-control. Subproject 1- This study aims to assess periodontal condition and quality of life before and after delivery of women with excess weight gain or not, with exposure to coronavirus-sars-cov2. Subproject 2- Identify the proteins differentially expressed in saliva associated with COVID-19 infection during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy in obese and eutrophic patients. Subproject 3- Assess the prevalence of congenital syndrome in babies associated with the presumed maternal infection with SARS-CoV-2. Subproject 4- Case-control study in which newborns are submitted to clinical examination, being a group with congenital malformations and their respective controls and an interview with the mother was carried out.

Phase IIa clinical trial in which 75 non-ICU hospital inpatients will be randomized 2:1 to 7 days of an oral formulation of cyclosporine, Neoral (2.5mg/kg PO BID) + standard of care (SOC) or no Neoral + SOC. The primary endpoint is disease severity based on the World Health Organization (WHO) COVID Ordinal Outcomes Scale, on day 14. Secondary endpoints include safety and changes in serum inflammatory markers.

This is a registry-based cohort study of all adult patients (≥18 years) with confirmed or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection. The main goal is to describe mortality incidence, demographic characteristics, coexisting conditions, treatments, outcomes among SARS-CoV2 infected patients. A secondary goal is to identify biological factors (OMICS - genomic, proteomic and metabolomics characterization) associated with severity conditions for these patients.
