Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a somewhat new and recognized infectious disease that is now spreading to several countries in the world, including Brazil. Hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin may be useful for treating those patients. COALITION I study aims to compared standard of care, hydroxychloroquine plus azithromycin and hydroxychloroquine monotherapy for treatment of hospitalized patients with COVID-19. COALITION I will recruit 630 patients with infection by COVID-19 (210 per arm). Ordinal endpoint of status at 15 days will be the primary endpoint.

Growing evidences are showing the usefulness of lung ultrasound in patients with COVID-19. Sars-CoV-2 has now spread in almost every country in the world. In this study, the investigators share their experience and propose a standardized approach in order to optimize the use of lung ultrasound in covid-19 patients. The investigators focus on equipment, procedure, classification and data-sharing.

COVID-19 infection is overwhelming Italian healthcare. There is an urgent need for a solution to the lack of ICU beds and increasing deaths day after day. A recent retrospective Chinese paper (JAMA Intern Med, online March 13, 2020) showed impressive positive effect of methylprednisolone (MP) on survival of SARS-CoV-2 critically ill patients. Moreover, the Italian Infectious Disease leading institution guidelines for COVID-19 clinical management included as an option for patients with "incipient worsening of respiratory functions" methylprednisolone treatment at an approximate dose of 80mg. The main objective of this multi-centre observational trial is to analyse the association of low dose prolonged infusion of methylprednisolone (MP) for patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome with composite primary end-point (ICU referral, need for intubation, in-hospital death at day 28).

Recent information appearing from different countries suggest that treatment of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with hydroxychloroquine or with a combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin has either an indifferent effect on viral replication or substantial cardiotoxicity. This is a clinical trial aiming to prove that addition of oral clarithromycin to treatment regimen of COVID-19 is associated with early clinical improvement and attenuation of the high inflammatory burden of the host. The study will not comprise a placebo-comparator group since this is considered inappropriate in an era of a pandemic with substantial global mortality.

One case of maternal-fetal transmission of SARS Cov-2 was published (1). Ig M and Ig G were found at two hours after birth of a new born from a mother COVID-19. Another study on few newborns COVID-19 reported that the SARS-Cov-2 was not transmitted in utero but only after birth. Although there are few data on COVID-19 during pregnancy, according to our national data collections, it appears to be responsible for miscarriages and fetal deaths. There are also intrauterine growth restrictions and an increase of the rate of cesarean sections for maternal indications. Therefore, it is essential to know if there is a maternal viremia which infects the fetus because the consequences in terms of management would be completely different. In fact, the potential intrauterine infection will lead to antenatal monitoring of these patients with an antenatal diagnosis and may be a treatment. Therefore, it seems essential to explore the mode of transmission to the newborn since many newborns have COVID-19 infection The investigators will propose to all pregnant women SARS- Cov-2 positive to perform PCR SARS-Cov-2 tests and /or serology's (IgM and Ig G) on the amniotic fluid, the blood cord and the placenta.

This single arm, multicenter study provides the pertuzumab and trastuzumab fixed-dose combination formulation for subcutaneous injection (PH FDC SC) administered at home by a home health nursing provider for patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2-positive (HER2+) breast cancer who have completed concurrent chemotherapy with pertuzumab (Perjeta) and trastuzumab (Herceptin) by intravenous administration (P+H IV) and are currently receiving or will be receiving maintenance therapy with P+H IV, PH FDC SC, or trastuzumab SC in the clinic. The main objective is to enable continuity of care during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study will enroll approximately 200 patients in the United States. Participants with early or metastatic HER2+ breast cancer will be enrolled in this study. Participants with metastatic HER2+ breast cancer will receive treatment every 3 weeks and continue treatment unless early cessation is necessary due to disease recurrence, disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, participant withdrawal of consent, or per physician's recommendation. Participants with early HER2+ breast cancer will receive PH FDC SC to complete 1 year (up to 18 cycles) of dual blockade, including the P+H IV, PH FDC SC, or trastuzumab SC they received prior to enrolling in this study, unless early cessation is necessary due to disease recurrence, disease progression, unacceptable toxicity, participant withdrawal of consent, or per physician's recommendation. A remote cardiac surveillance substudy will be optional for patients enrolled at select sites. The Sponsor may decide to terminate the study when the COVID-19 pandemic is no longer a risk for this patient population.

The Controlled evaLuation of Angiotensin Receptor Blockers for COVID-19 respIraTorY disease (CLARITY) study is a pragmatic prospective, open-label, randomised controlled trial. CLARITY aims to examine the effectiveness of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) on improving the outcomes of people who tested positive for COVID-19 disease.
