Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This study compares two intubation boxes, that is the Taiwan "Aerosol Box" versus the UMMC "Intubation Box". The importance of this intubation box has come to light recently in view of the COVID-19 pandemic and the fact that intubation is an aerosol-generating procedure. Risks of the healthcare worker attending to the airway of COVID-19 patients is high and the intubation box aims to minimize that and reduce contamination of the environment. The original design of the "Aerosol Box" has limitations and is not easily used by intubators. This study evaluates the clinical usefulness of an innovation of the "Aerosol Box" design that is made to be more ergonomic and increases the rate of successful intubation. Anaesthetists with more than 5 years of clinical experience in intubating airways as well as more than 20 successful intubations using videolaryngoscopy , will be available to participate. This study will employ manikin and will be a randomized cross-over trial, conducted in UM.

The vital signs are critical in assessing the severity and prognosis of infections, such as Covid-19. The devices used today for measuring the vital signs have to be in physical contact with the patients. There is an apparent risk of transferring infections from one patient to the next (or to healthcare professionals). This project aims to evaluate a new camera-based system for contactless measurement of vital signs as well as an artificial intelligence (AI) predicting hospitalization or death within 30 days. This particular study will evaluate the new system's ability without interfering with standard care of the patient.

This is a randomized controlled trial of isolated patients with diabetes admitted to Nordsjællands Hospital with or without COVID-19-pneumonia. A continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) based system with transmission of glucose data to a central system is used for remote monitoring of glucose levels and compared to standard finger-prick glucose. Blinded (to patients) CGM is mounted in the finger-prick group.

This is a small scale pilot study to evaluate if core warming improves respiratory physiology of mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19, allowing earlier weaning from ventilation, and greater overall survival. This prospective, randomized study will include 20 patients diagnosed with COVID-19, and undergoing mechanical ventilation for the treatment of respiratory failure. Patients will be randomized in a 1:1 fashion with 10 patients (Group A) randomized to undergo core warming, and the other 10 patients (Group B) serving as the control group who will not have the ensoETM device used. Patients randomized to Group A will have core warming initiated in the ICU or other clinical environment in which they are being treated after enrollment and provision of informed consent from appropriate surrogate or legally authorized representative.

The central hypothesis motivating this study is that remote patient monitoring (RPM) of infectious disease patients can efficiently facilitate self-isolation. Additionally, RPM can assist in more rapid identification of patients at risk, facilitate detection of patient deterioration, and enable early interventions, all of which play a vital role in resource utilization and outcomes.

coronavirus disease 2019 related pneumonia is causing acute respiratory failure and this is the most common reason for ICU admission. We have several different way for respiratory support. HFNC is one of the new technics for oxygen support. Our main purpose to observe the effect of HFNC on coronavirus disease 2019 patients' ICU stay and mortality.

Various guidelines for endotracheal intubation (insertion of breathing tube for mechanical ventilation) of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients recommend the use of videolaryngoscope (medical device used for intubation that has a camera to visualize the vocal cords between which the breathing tube will pass) over direct laryngoscope (conventionally-used medical device for intubation that depends on anesthetist's direct visualization of vocal cords). The reasons for this recommendation are to maximize the distance between the medical personnel and the patient's face during intubation to decrease the risk of viral particles transmission and to improve intubation success. For patients infected with COVID-19, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) is recommended as an alternative to N95 masks during aerosol-generating procedures such as intubation because N95 masks may not fully protect medical personnel from viral transmission during intubation. There is no evidence to suggest that videolaryngoscope (VL) is superior to direct laryngoscope (DL) for intubation when PAPR is donned. The purpose of this study is to determine if McGrath VL is superior to DL for intubation when the anesthetist is wearing a PAPR. The investigators' hypothesis is that McGrath VL will decrease the time to intubation by 20 seconds and more compared to DL when PAPR is donned. The investigators also hope to learn if there is any difference in the difficulties encountered between the use of VL and DL.

Vibroacoustic pulmonary therapy in patients with COVID19 is believed to have a positive effect on oxygen status and a decrease in the duration of respiratory failure

The current outbreak of Covid-19 requires the wearing of FFP2 respiratory protective devices by healthcare personnel to limit their contamination. However, there is currently a shortage of masks in France due to insufficient national stocks while the disease is spreading. There is an urgent need to save FFP2 masks to enable healthcare personnel to continue to provide care in complete safety. Contamination of staff due to insufficient masks would have consequences by limiting access to care for infected patients and putting caregivers at potential risk of death. Caregiver protection is also intended to contain the risk of nosocomial epidemics. We propose the use of ARFC masks by Covid-19+ units. These ARFC masks provide optimal security against the risk of aerosolization of contaminated biological liquids. They are masks modified to be usable by civilians, resulting from the technology of combat masks, specially designed for use in NRBC (Nuclear, Radiological, Biological and Chemical) atmosphere.

During the Coronavirus pandemic children's hearing services are closed or reduced and grommet operations are part of the lowest priority group. In the absence of management options, this research study aims to see if bone conduction headphones either paired (via bluetooth) to a microphone or an app will help children with a hearing loss during this period of waiting. The child's quality of life is measured with validated questionnaires The study is over 3 months, and delivered remotely, with the product being sent to the family home and support offered via telephone/ video consulattion.
