Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Upper respiratory swabs, such as the nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, have so far been major specimen sources used for the SARS-COV-2 molecular test. However, due to the discomfort and invasiveness of NP collection, and the expense of personal protective equipment, alternative sampling sources such as saliva are desired. The purpose of this proposed study is: 1) to examine whether saliva can be used as an specimen for the SARS-COV-2 molecular test; 2) to test if gingival crevicular fluids is a reliable specimen for the SARS-COV-2 antibodies.

SARS-CoV-2 infection is a condition characterized by excessive leukocyte infiltration, massive release of chemokines, proteases and cytokines, the so-called "cytokine storm", which promote the inflammatory process and contribute to exacerbation of COVID-19 symptomatology. Because of the abnormal release of pro-inflammatory cytokines by non-neuronal cells of the immune system, such as the mast cells in periphery, and microglia at central level, the body activates a defensive neuroinflammatory process that, if not controlled, can become pathological. Therefore it's important to intervene early on neuroinflammation, in order to limit the progression of the disease. A possible intervention is represented by Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous molecule of the N-acylethanolamine family synthesized "on demand" in response to "stress factors" to restore tissue homeostasis, able to control mast cells and microglia uncontrolled activation. Experimental evidence in vitro and in vivo demonstrated the anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effect of micronized and ultra-micronized PEA (mPEA and umPEA), confirmed in various clinical investigations conducted in patients with different pathological conditions. The aim of this study is to investigate the efficacy of a compound containing mPEA + umPEA on peripheral inflammatory markers, neuroinflammation, and others clinical parameters in intensive care patients with COVID-19 interstitial pneumonia.

Dyspnea is defined by a subjective sensation of respiratory discomfort, the intensity of which varies according to the terrain, the anamnesis and the cause. Resuscitation is associated with many causes of dyspnea, including initial distress, mechanical ventilation, or after-effects following the pathology and its management. Respiratory distress is the most severe form of impaired lung function. It is the first cause of hospitalization in intensive care. This distress, indicative of the failure of the respiratory system, is always severe and potentially fatal. It therefore constitutes an absolute therapeutic emergency. Dyspnea is often the revealing symptom of the condition and the urgency surrounding its management is an additional factor of concern for the patient. As a result, dyspnea is a pejorative element associated with severity or even death.
Medical University of Warsaw
The study will be conducted in the UCKWUM teaching hospital in Warsaw between 2020 and 2022. The study group will be comprised of UCKWUM healthcare professionals All employees willing to participate in the study will receive an anonymous questionnaire on attitudes towards influenza vaccination . We will distribute information posters of the National Programme for Combating Influenza as part of the educational programme. In order to increase the effectiveness of the educational campaign, we will also send information e-mails, using the internal hospital e-mail system and conduct a series of online training courses to present the latest international reports on influenza vaccinations among health care professionals [CITATION Abr10 \l 1045]. Considering the fact that lack of time [CITATION Kus11 \l 1045] is the most common reason for not getting vaccinated against influenza among healthcare professionals, we will provide this group with an opportunity to receive free influenza vaccination during working hours at the UCKWUM hospital. Information about the possibility of vaccination will be provided in the form of e-mails (mailings) to hospital employees (internal hospital e-mail system), letters of information submitted to the offices of individual departments, and information posters. The effectiveness of the educational programme will be assessed by re-administering the anonymous questionnaires after the influenza season, also by means of internal hospital e-mail system.

This study will be conducted in 2 phases. Phase 1 of this study will be a single-centre, open label, dose escalation first in human (FIH) study conducted in 2 groups of healthy participants. Group 1 will enrol adults aged 18-55 years (inclusive); Group 2 will enroll elderly adults (elderly) aged 56-75 years (inclusive). Phase 2 of this study will be a single centre, the proposed design will be observer-blind, placebo-controlled study to assess the safety, reactogenicity, and immunogenicity of ChulaCov19 vaccine in healthy adults (18-75 years of age inclusive).

Randomized, double-blind (blinded for the trial subject and the study physician), placebo controlled, multi-center clinical trial in parallel assignment of efficacy, immunogenicity, and safety of the Gam-COVID-Vac combined vector vaccine against the SARS-CoV-2-induced coronavirus infection in adults in the SARS-СoV-2 infection prophylactic treatment.

Patients on dialysis are at risk for several infectious diseases, since they have reduced immunological and have to regularly attend dialysis centres even if a pandemic is going on. Dialysis patients and healthcare professionals of dialysis centres can become infected one with the other. The incident risk of COVID-19 in dialysis centres is still unknown. Given the challenges of an early diagnosis of COVID-19, the likely transmission with outbreaks, the possibility of reciprocal transmission of the infection among patients and healthcare professionals, the frequent clinical severity of COVID-19 in dialysis patients because of the coexistence of several comorbidities, CONTACT TRACING could be an effective and efficient tool to contrast COVID-19 spreading in dialysis centres.

The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of establishing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) testing at a federally-qualified health center (FQHC) during a global health crisis to mitigate COVID-19 disparities in socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.
