Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Behcet' disease (BD) is a chronic inflammatory disease which is characterized by oral and genital ulcers, uveitis and skin lesions. Musculoskeletal involvement such as arthrits, arthralgia, enthesis and sacroiliitis can be seen in course of BD. FMF is an autosomal recessive family disease characterized by abdominal pain, chest pain, joint pain and fever attacks as a result of inflammation of the serous membranes. FMF patients have been shown to experience higher levels of pain, fatigue, depression and anxiety than healthy controls, and this has increased sleep disturbance and reduced quality of life. FMF and BiH have common characteristics such as ethnicity, etiopathogenetic mechanisms, symptoms, and treatment. In December 2019, after the officially detected coronavirus (severe acute respiratory syndrome coranavirus-2 [SARS-CoV-2]) resistant to unknown treatment and rapidly spreading coronavirus in our country on March 11, 2020 in Hubei province of China, the number of cases increased rapidly and virus was isolated in 670 patients within 10 days. Ongoing concerns about the spread of Covid-19 infections have caused many measures to be taken. Among them, social isolation, home quarantine and avoiding collective places are the most important. In our country, in the process of social isolation, the areas of movement of Behçet and FMF patients, like everyone else, were restricted, their stress and anxiety levels increased and their motivation decreased. The aim of our study is to compare the pain, sleep, fatigue, physical activity level and quality of life and question exercise habits before and after the covid-19 outbreak in patients with Behçet and FMF.

To build simple and reliable predictive scores for intensive care admissions and deaths in COVID19 patients. These scores adhere to the TRIPOD (transparent reporting of a multivariable prediction model for individual prognosis or diagnosis) reporting guidelines. The outcomes of the study are (i) admission in the Intensive Care Unit admission and (ii) death. All patients admitted in the Emergency Department with a positive reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction SARS-COV2 test were included in the study. Routine clinical and laboratory data were collected at their admission and during their stay. Chest X-Rays and CT-Scans were performed and analyzed by a senior radiologist. Generalized Linear Models using a binomial distribution with a logit link function (R software version X) were used to develop predictive scores for (i) admission to ICU among emergency ward patients; (ii) death among ICU patients. A first panel of Number Models with the highest AIC (BIC) was preselected. Ten-fold cross-validation was then used to estimate the out-of-sample prediction error among these preselected models. The one with the smallest prediction error was in the end singled out .

There is a considerable variation in the disease behavior in terms of contracting the infection, manifesting none to a range of symptoms and severity of the infection among individuals exposed to or infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative organism of COVID-19. Although the respiratory system appears to be the primary target of this virus infection, emerging evidences suggests involvement of extra-pulmonary organs including central nervous system. We aim to compare the genetic profile of individuals with vs without COVID-19 after being exposed to infected cases. Additionally, we will assess the cognitive function in covid-19 positive cases with vs. without neurological symptoms at the time of infection and 1-month follow-up using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) questionnaire.

Plasma from patients who have recovered from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is referred to as COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP), and may contain antibodies against SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. CCP infusion is being evaluated as a therapeutic or prophylactic approach in COVID-19 patients. The goal of this study is to help develop a bank of convalescent plasma in California, especially in medically underserved communities particularly affected by the disease. In parallel, CCP administered to COVID-19 patients will be collected and analyzed to determine whether the antibody profile correlates with clinical outcome. The purpose of this non-therapeutic study is to learn more about the CCP antibody profile and the effect it may have in treating COVID-19 infection.

To respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, investigators will be deploying community health workers, equipped with mobile technology, and accompanied by youth to visit households door to door to screen for symptoms of COVID-19, isolate, test, and manage suspected cases of COVID-19. The community health workers and youth will educate households about preventive measures including frequent handwashing and home management of mild cases. Simultaneously, investigators will work with nurses, doctors, and clinical officers, to test and treat more severe cases of COVID-19 in health facilities. Our goals are: to visit every household in Siaya county covering a population of close to 1 million, and to train and support health workers working in 32 health facilities with oxygen capacity in Siaya to reduce the morbidity and mortality related to COVID19 and other conditions.

There is a critical need to determine the impact of the COVID-19 emergency on the comprehensive well-being of people as they are living through the emergency and sequelae of the emergency period. The research team is requesting National Institutes of Health funding with the goal to investigate rural vs. urban living people's response to the crisis and its impact using mixed methods research.

Morbidity, mortality and progress depends on systemic inflammation especially in ARDS patients. Previous studies claims that the proportion of mean platellet volume to platellet which can simply be determined with simple blood tests that are performed at admission, might predict the mortality in ARDS patients. Covid-19 pneumonia has a very similar clinical outlook with ARDS. Therefore we decided to research whether that proportion is legitimate for detecting the progress of Covid-19 pneumonia or not.

The COVIDHELP study will prospectively evaluate the yet unknown clinical course of the COVID-19 infection in cancer patients and document the impact of potential infrastructural limitations on cancer care of COVID-19 positive patients. All patients consenting will provide peripheral blood samples for prospective biobanking with the aim of investigating immune response and immunity against COVID-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic affects eating habits, diet quality and physical activity differently among individuals; it is unclear how these behaviours will evolve as the pandemic continues. In this observational study, dietary intake will be frequently collected using an artificial intelligence (AI)-enhanced mobile application combined with real-time analysis, and lifestyle behaviours from online questionnaires, to provide timely, relevant data for public health decision making.
