Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Primary Objectives: Doublet Cohort Part 1 (safety run-in): To assess the tolerability and to confirm the recommended dose of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab in the NSQ NSCLC population. Part 2: To assess the antitumor activity of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab in the NSQ NSCLC population. Triplet cohort To assess the tolerability and to confirm the recommended dose of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab and pembrolizumab in the NSQ NSCLC population. Secondary Objectives: Doublet Cohort To assess the safety and tolerability of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab. To assess the durability of the response to treatment with tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab. To assess anti-tumor activity of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab on progression free survival (PFS) and disease control rate (DCR). To assess the pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles of tusamitamab ravtansine (SAR408701) and ramucirumab when given in combination. To assess the immunogenicity of tusamitamab ravtansine (SAR408701) when given in combination with ramucirumab. Triplet cohort To assess the safety and tolerability of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab and pembrolizumab To assess the antitumor activity of tusamitamab ravtansine in combination with ramucirumab and pembrolizumab in the NSQ NSCLC population. To assess the immunogenicity of tusamitamab ravtansine when given in combination with ramucirumab and pembrolizumab
Abivax S.A.
A phase 2/3, randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and the safety of ABX464 in treating inflammation and preventing acute respiratory failure in patients aged ≥65 and patients aged ≥18 with at least one additional risk factor who are infected with SARS-CoV-2 (the MiR-AGE study).

COVID-19 is highly infectious and transmission of the virus is thought to be similar to that of influenza which can be transferred through droplets released when a person coughs, sneezes or talks. Studies have shown that nasal rinsing and mouth washes may be an important way to deliver treatments that could reduce the amount of a virus that is present in the nose and mouth. This also could mean that there is less virus available to pass on to others. We want to see if the use of nose rinses and mouth washes using Povidone-Iodine will reduce the the amount of virus in the nose and throat of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 disease and also reduce the spread of infection within their household.

This study aims to address the following objectives: 1. To determine the efficacy of IC14, an anti-CD14 chimeric monoclonal antibody, in patients hospitalized with respiratory disease and hypoxemia due to SARS-CoV-2, in terms of improving the time to resolution of disease. 2. To determine the efficacy of IC14 in reducing the severity of respiratory disease in patients hospitalized with respiratory disease due to SARS-CoV-2. 3. To determine the safety of IC14 in patients hospitalized with respiratory disease due to SARS-CoV-2.
Chimerix
This was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2/3 study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of dociparstat sodium in adult patients with acute lung injury (ALI) due to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study was designed to determine if dociparstat sodium could accelerate recovery and prevent progression to mechanical ventilation in patients severely affected by COVID-19.

Primary care physicians face limited availability of therapeutic options for the treatment of COVID-19 in the outpatient setting. Furthermore, monoclonal antibodies and antiviral therapies that are currently approved for use in the outpatient setting by Health Canada have excluded pregnant women and older adults from their clinical trials, are contraindicated for many patients, and most are prohibited for use by pregnant women. Identification of a safe, COVID-19 outpatient therapeutic with 20-year safety record remains urgently needed.
Bellerophon
This is a pilot randomized-controlled (2:1) open label investigation of inhaled NO to prevent progression to more advanced disease in 42 hospitalized patients with COVID-19, at risk for worsening, based on baseline systemic oxygenation and 2 or more of the major risk factors of age > 60 years, type II DM, hypertension, and obesity.

This is a three-arm randomized trial comparing the efficacy of single agent hydroxychloroquine to the combination of hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, and to a delayed hydroxychloroquine regimen, which will serve as a contemporaneous Day 1-6 supportive care control, in eliminating detectable SARS-CoV-2 on day 6 following the initiation of treatment in order to determine which regimen is more effective.
Novartis is the Marketing Authorization Holder for Jakavi outside the US.
The purpose of this Cohort Treatment Plan is to allow access to ruxolitinib for eligible patients diagnosed with severe/very severe COVID-19 illness. The patient's Treating Physician should follow the suggested treatment guidelines and comply with all local health authority regulations. The requesting Treating Physician submitted a request for access to drug (often referred to as Compassionate Use) to Novartis which was reviewed and approved by the medical team experienced with the drug and indication. Please refer to the latest Investigator's Brochure (IB) or approved label for overview of ruxolitinib including: non-clinical and clinical experience, risk and benefits. Novartis will continue to provide any new safety information to the Treating Physician as they emerge.
