Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial investigating the safety and efficacy of C21 in subjects who are hospitalised with COVID-19 infection, but not in need of mechanical invasive or non-invasive ventilation. In total, approximately 100 subjects will be enrolled and randomised to receive twice daily oral administration of either standard of care (SoC) + placebo (N=50) or SoC + C21 (N=50). Subjects will be treated for 7 days.

Primary Objectives: Cohort A: • To evaluate the efficacy of REGN10933+REGN10987 compared to placebo in preventing symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection (broad-term) confirmed by RT-qPCR Cohort A and Cohort A1: • To evaluate the safety and tolerability of REGN10933+REGN10987 following subcutaneous (SC) administration compared to placebo Cohort B • To evaluate the efficacy of REGN10933+REGN10987 compared to placebo in preventing COVID-19 symptoms (broad-term) Cohort B and Cohort B1 • To evaluate the safety and tolerability of REGN10933+REGN10987 following SC administration compared to placebo
Beijing Defengrui Biotechnology Co. Ltd
This multi-center, open, randomized study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of BDB-001 injection in severe COVID-19 with severe pneumonia, or acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome. Patients will be randomized to two treatment arms (Arm A: Conventional treatment + BDB-001; Arm B: Conventional treatment alone).
Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany
The study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of orally-administered M5049 in Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia participants who are hospitalized but not on mechanical ventilation.
Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations
This study aims to evaluate the safety and reactogenicity profile after 1 and 2 dose administrations of CVnCoV at different dose levels.
Boston Children's Hospital
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted anesthesia care all over the world. There remains very little data on current practice patterns and patient outcomes, particularly in anesthetized children. This is a prospective observational, multi-center study to investigate airway management related outcomes in children undergoing anesthesia during this pandemic. The investigators will compare the incidence of complications (particularly hypoxemia) in patients with COVID-19 to those who are COVID-19 negative during airway management.
