The COVID-19 causative agent, the SARS-CoV-2, is a virus leading to respiratory system infections in human and for which there is currently no vaccine or treatment scientifically validated in clinical studies. In that context, therapeutic human neutralizing antibodies targeting the SARS-CoV-2 envelop glycoproteins and which enable inhibition of the viral replication represent an innovative therapeutic alternative with great potential. These antibodies are also critical tools for vaccine development. Simultaneously, CHUGA researchers coordinate with each other to set up a collective biological collection to achieve others objectives such as biomarkers identifications.

This is a prospective observational cohort study that will aim to recruit 60 participants who have had COVID-19, were admitted to hospital, required intensive care, and/or developed AKI during their hospital stay. Potential participants will be approached either by telephone by a member of the research team or via clinics (nephrology, post-ICU follow up clinics).

This is a phase 1, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose escalation study to evaluate the safety, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity of ADM03820 administered as IM injections in healthy adults for the prevention of COVID-19.
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
Randomized, double-blind prospective trial to test the efficacy and acceptability of therapeutic, antiseptic mouth rinses to inactivate severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in saliva of COVID-19 positive patients aged 18-65 years old. All mouthrinses are commercially available and will be used according to on-label instructions. Patients will be randomized to a mouthrinse and will be asked to give a saliva sample immediately before and after a one minute mouthwash. Saliva samples will be collected from patients at 15 minute intervals thereafter up to an hour (15, 30, 45 and 60 minutes). The samples will be stored and used for real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) detection of viral SARS-CoV-2 RNA and viral infectivity assays. Patients will also complete a short-survey on the taste and experience of using the mouthwash. This study involves 480 subject participants and one, 75-90 minute visit.

This is a longitudinal study of the long-term impact of COVID-19 on the lungs. Participants will be followed over a period of up to 4 years and impacts of COVID-19 on the lungs will be measured with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using hyperpolarized xenon-129, pulmonary function tests, exercise capacity, computed tomography imaging and questionnaires.

Preliminary reports have been received from several sources that the periodic inhaling of the nebulized mist from water that has a heightened level of kinetic activity has quickly (less than 2 days) lessened the severity of symptoms in Covid-19 infected patients. On at least several occasions, a repeat PCR test performed several after inhaling a particular water-based product was negative. There are no perceived adverse effects from inhaling the water mist by using a nebulizer or humidifier. It is important, however, to validate these preliminary findings and to include the inhaling of the mist from water, which does not have an elevated level of kinetic activity. This will be by performed in a patient-blinded manner by sequentially inhaling the two types of water over consecutive 2-day periods with Covid-19 testing at the end of each of the two day periods. Participants will be randomized as to whether they are to inhale the mist from the test or the control water.

ULSC-CV-01 is a clinical trial that comprises both Phase 1 and Phase 2a, which will be conducted sequentially. This trial will evaluate the safety and potential efficacy of allogeneic Umbilical Cord Lining Stem Cells (ULSC), which are a type of umbilical cord tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSC), with intravenous (IV) administration in hospitalized patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to COVID-19.

This study is being conducted to look at the safety and immune response (how the immune system of the human body reacts) to a vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus responsible for COVID-19 infection) when administered as an intramuscular injection (an injection directly into the muscle) to the upper arm of healthy participants, on two occasions at least 28 days apart.
Johns Hopkins University
This is a a randomized double blind placebo controlled Phase 2 trial with a 12 patient lead-in to evaluate safety, prior to full enrollment to an additional 28 patients (for a total of 40 patients) to assess efficacy of decitabine in the treatment of critically ill patients with COVID-ARDS. The patients will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive standard of care plus Decitabine or standard of care plus saline based placebo. The primary objective is to determine safety and efficacy of decitabine for COVID-19 ARDS based on clinical improvement on a 6-point clinical scale.
