Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

COVID-19 outbreak is often lethal. Mortality has been associated with several cardio-vascular risk factors such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension and tobacco use. Other clinico-biological features predictive of mortality or transfer to Intensive Care Unit are also needed. Cases of myocarditis have also been reported with COVID-19. Cardio-vascular events have possibly been highly underestimated. The study proposes to systematically collect cardio-vascular data to study the incidence of myocarditis and coronaropathy events during COVID-19 infection. We will also assess predictive factors for transfer in Intensive Care Unit or death.

The purpose of this study is to test the effect of purified (acellular) amniotic fluid as a treatment for SARS CoV-2 (COVID19)-associated respiratory failure. Past use of human amniotic products (i.e., membrane and fluid) is FDA-approved for tissue injury and has been used to reduce inflammation and fibrosis in patients with a variety of medical conditions. The investigators hypothesize that using nebulized and/or intravenous purified (acellular) amniotic fluid will reduce both inflammation in patients hospitalized for in SARS CoV-2 (COVID19)-associated respiratory failure, potentially leading to a decrease in respiratory support.

This study is expected to provide, for the first time, data on Cov2-SARS circulation in asymptomatic children and children with moderate respiratory symptoms in order to construct the severity pyramid of this novel pathogen. This information will be essential in the coming weeks to understand the dynamics of the transmission of this pathogen at the population level and to highlight the relevance of public health interventions, particularly with regard to the systematic closure of schools and childcare facilities.

In December 2019, a novel coronavirus infectious disease characterized by acute respiratory impairment due to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan city of Hubei province in China. So far no specific antiviral therapy can be available for patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Although symptomatic and supportive care, even with mechanical ventilation or extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), are strongly recommended for severe infected individuals, those with advancing age and co-morbidities such as diabetes and heart disease remain to be at high risk for adverse outcomes. This pilot clinical trial will be performed to explore the safety and efficiency of aerosol inhalation of the exosomes derived from allogenic adipose mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs-Exo) in severe patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP).

In the absence of 2019-ncov specific therapeutic drugs, arbidol is effective against a variety of coronaviruses in vitro pharmacodynamics. In order to observe the efficacy and safety of arbidol in the treatment of 2019-ncov infected pneumonia, this study is planned.

The "COVID-19 infection self-test and alert system" (hereinafter referred to as "COVID-19 self-test applet") jointly developed by Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, Institute for precision medicine, artificial intelligence of Tsinghua University was launched on February 1,2020. Residents , according to their actual healthy situation, after answering questions online, the system will conduct intelligent analysis, make disease risk assessment and give healthcare and medical guidance. Based on the Internet population survey, and referring to the diagnosis and screening standards of the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, investigators carried out the mobile applet of Internet survey and registry study for the Internet accessible identifiable population, so as to screen the suspected population and guide the medical treatment.

Infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strain is associated with severe morbidity and mortality estimated today from 2% to 4%. Elderly patients or patients with serious chronic conditions justifying hospitalization are particularly at risk. The risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2 during hospitalization is also substantial and increased in fragile patients. Several cases of infection among Healthcare Professionals had been reported. The hypothesis is that similar to the corona virus agent responsible for SRAS and the influenza virus, nosocomial outbreaks of SARS-CoV-2 to be feared. Health care professionals and caregivers are populations-at-risk as they are exposed in the community and can transmit SARS-CoV-2 to hospitalized patients, and are also exposed to hospitalized patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Describing hospital-acquired cases and SARS-CoV-2 infection transmission chains in healthcare settings is vitally essential to achieve control of this epidemic. To improve the quality of care and patient safety, this data must be accompanied by an analysis of the impact of infection control measures. In addition, an effective infection control program is urgently required to control the spread of the virus and protect both uninfected patients who require care for other medical or surgical conditions as well as health care professionals. The main objective of this prospective, non-interventional - observational, hospital based study in adults and children is to describe and document suspected or confirmed cases of nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 infection, the clinical spectrum and the determinants (risk factors/protective factors) at participating hospitals. Characterization of the clinical features of the SARS-CoV-2 infection will help to identify potential sources of virus transmission as rapidly as possible and enable implementation of appropriate hygiene practices in hospitals.
