Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

In patients with SARS-CoV-2 or bacterial infection admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), the state of the intravascular volume, the characteristics of the blood volume components, and the development of a vascular leak is currently unknown. The relationship of these parameters with parameters of cardiac performance, lung edema and sublingual microcirculatory perfusion parameters have never been studied.
Joseph M. Flynn, D.O., MPH
This study proposes to evaluate the therapeutic efficacy, immunologic effects and normalization of laboratory parameters for patients at high risk for mortality when infected by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) when administered one unit (approximately 200 mL) of convalescent plasma administered over a period of one hour. Following administration of the convalescent plasma, physical exam/clinical assessment information is collected daily and routine lab result data is collected every three days.

A double-blind, randomized, controlled, clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of MSC (mesenchymal stromal cells) intravenous administration in patients with COVID-induced ARDS compared to a control arm.

(a) Objectives 1. To assess the full lung function, exercise capacity, quality of life in patients with COVID-19 over 2 years. 2. To assess the longevity of the serology response to SARS-CoV2. 3. To investigate the association of the neutralization titer in plasma from different vaccinated cohorts to its protection of infection using in vivo model 4. To investigate the SARS-CoV-2 specific cellular and humoral immunities as well as their determinant factors from community subjects who have received different types of COVID-19 vaccines. 5. To assess the third booster dose for subjects who have poor antibody response despite having received two doses of CoronaVac (Sinovac)

Our purpose is to conduct a 4-arm placebo-controlled clinical trial to investigate the relative clinical efficacy of 300 mg. of pure hemp-derived CBD isolate, 300 mg. of full spectrum CBD oil, 300 mg. of broad- spectrum CBD Oil, or Placebo oil among adults presenting with COVID-19 -induced stress reactions including one or more of the following: anxiety, depression, anger, substance use, or sleep disturbance.
Entos Pharmaceuticals Inc.
This study is a Phase I/II clinical study in healthy adults designed to assess the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of receiving 2 IM injections of Covigenix VAX-001/-1b, 28 days apart. Covigenix VAX-001/-1b is a plasmid DNA vaccine that expresses key antigenic determinants from SARS-CoV-2 and uses Entos Pharmaceuticals' Fusogenix PLV platform. The phase I part of this study was completed in Canada. The phase II part of the study will be completed in Burkina Faso, Senegal and South Africa.

The goal of this project is to rapidly screen promising agents, in the setting of an adaptive platform trial, for treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients. In this phase 2 platform design, agents will be identified with a signal suggesting a big impact on reducing mortality and the need for, as well as duration, of mechanical ventilation.
Biomed Industries, Inc.
This Phase 2/3 trial evaluates four treatment strategies for non-critically ill hospitalized participants (not requiring ICU admission and/or mechanical ventilation) with SARS CoV-2 infection, in which participants will receive NA-831 or Atazanavir with or without Dexamethasone.
Baylx Inc.
This is a phase 1/2a study including 2 parts, phase 1 and phase 2a. The phase 1 part is an open-label, single-arm, dose-escalating study to evaluate the safety and explore the dose limiting toxicity and maximum tolerated dose of a human umbilical cord derived mesenchymal stem cell product (BX-U001) in severe COVID-19 pneumonia patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Qualified subjects after the screening will be divided into low, medium, or high dose groups to receive a single intravenous infusion of BX-U001 at the dose of 0.5×10^6, 1.0×10^6, or 1.5×10^6 cells/kg of body weight, respectively. The Phase 2a part is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical trial examining the safety and biological effects of BX-U001 at the appropriate dose selected from phase 1 for severe COVID-19 pneumonia patients with the same inclusion/exclusion criteria as the phase 1 part.

The purpose of this program is to see if giving convalescent plasma to individuals who test positive for COVID-19 may reduce their symptoms and help minimize complications from the illness.
