Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in our country, individuals over 65 are prohibited from leaving their homes by T.C. The Ministry of Internal Affairs on March 21, 2020. While social isolation provides protection from COVID-19, it also brings some side effects that pose health risks. Studies investigating the relationship between social isolation and health behavior report that individuals with smaller social networks report less healthy diets, excessive alcohol consumption, and less physical activity. The effects of social isolation are related to physical inactivity, smoking. Physical activity is any body movement produced by the contraction of skeletal muscles that increases energy consumption. 150 minutes of moderate PA, 75 minutes of severe PA per week, or combined moderate and severe intensity PA plus twice a week strength training is recommended for elderly. The prevalence of physical inactivity increases significantly with increasing age. At the global level, approximately 45% of people over the age of 60 do not meet the recommended level of PA. The decrease in physical performance is associated with the risk of falling, sarcopenia, fragility, decreased quality of life, emotionalization, comorbidity, early death, and increased health care costs. The purpose of this study; to evaluate the physical activity level, functional capacity and quality of life of individuals over the age of 65 who socially isolated due to the precautions COVID-19 pandemic, and to investigate the effectiveness of video based home exercise program.

Health care workers working in hospital or nursing home for elderly people involved in the coronavirus epidemic are facing several challenges such as direct exposure and involvement in the resolution of major public health emergencies, exposure to potentially fatal contamination, physical exhaustion, unadjusted work organizations, the unusual number of deaths among patients, colleagues and close relatives, and significant ethical challenges in decision-making. Preliminary data suggests that frontline and lay professionals suffer from different types of psychological distress. These data highlight the importance of screening for psychological distress in response to the scale of the pandemic and the provision of targeted psychological interventions, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR, desensitization and neuro-emotional integration by eye movements), to improve the psychological well-being of healthcare workers exposed to COVID-19. This project is both a cohort study with the proposal of a randomized trial to evaluate an intervention adapted to the exceptional circumstances of the crisis. As such, it is designed as Trial(s) Within Cohort design (TWIC).

This study will help the investigators understand whether it is feasible and acceptable for people to practice trauma-informed yoga using a pre-recorded video. This study will also explore the immediate effects of trauma-informed yoga on anxiety, mindfulness, and body awareness. The results of this study will inform future research on remote delivery of trauma-informed yoga for supporting psychological wellbeing.

Pharmacological therapies of proven efficacy in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are still lacking. Since two clinical stages of COVID-19 are emerging, an early one with typical clinical characteristics of a viral infection (fever, malaise, cough) and a later one with pneumonia leading to progressive respiratory failure, associated with heavy, cytokine-mediated, inflammation, an intervention by a compound possessing both antiviral activity and immunomodulatory effects would be most effective at the earliest possible stage. The purpose of this clinical trial is to test the efficacy of Interferon-β-1a (IFNβ-1a), in COVID-19 patients in an open label, randomized clinical trial. The design of the study is to test IFNβ-1a in addition to standard of care compared with standard of care alone. The primary outcome is the time to negative conversion of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) nasopharyngeal swabs.

Our society is going through an unprecedented situation: the COVID 19 Pandemic is forcing many populations, worldwide, into confinement for their own protection. The very characteristics of this confinement and of the disease (isolation, potential severity of the illness, being psychologically unprepared for such a circumstance) have a significant impact on one's psyche, like emotional disorders -anxiety/depression-, difficulties when returning to normal life, vicarious traumas… Confinement is paradoxical in as although well-intended to protect the individual, it leads to the isolation of the individual. This paradox is destabilizing one's feelings, because when the investigators feel the need for protection and reassurance, the investigators are left alone and feel abandoned. The investigators therefore understand that this confinement framework is in essence a situation that might revive unresolved deprivation situations from the childhood. How to react in front of this upsurge in anxiety? Strategies used may include, among others, escape in the imaginary through numerical tools or others, and /or going to the actual characterized by deviant sexual behaviours. The investigators know in fact that certain moments, like anxiety, depression, boredom, psychological unrest are propicious for acting, for violent sexual offenders. The investigators therefore pay extra attention to our patients in such periods favoring these kinds of trouble. This study will enable us to understand if the confinement associated with COVID 19 has generated anxiety that lead sexual offenders or individuals with paraphilic disorders to engage into deviant fantasies or, potentially sexual activities.

In times of pandemics, social distancing, isolation and quarantine exacerbate depression and anxiety as confined people are detached from their loved ones, deprived of personal liberties, and devoid of purpose owing to altered routine and livelihood (1,2). Those with pre-existing mental health problems or illnesses (MHPIs) might suffer from limiting interpersonal interactions that are central to their self-management, as well as reduced access to helpful but "non-essential" (often cancelled) psychiatric services (3). In response to this situation, this feasibility study of a trial consists of offering a transitional measure of online peer support for people suffering from (a) psychotic disorders or (b) anxiety and mood disorders, and to determine an effect size to this Peer Support Workers-delivered intervention in terms of both personal-civic recovery and clinical recovery (4). Peer Support Workers (PSWs) are persons with first-hand lived experience of MHPIs, and who are further along in their own recovery journey. As recommended by recovery-oriented best practices guidelines (5,6), upon training and certification they can provide supportive services when hired to fill such a paid specialty position directly in, or in conjunction with, current psychiatric services. Indeed, recovery focuses on how individuals can have more active control over their lives (agency). It is characterized by a search for the person's strengths and capacities, satisfying and meaningful social roles, and mobilizing formal and informal support systems. Peer support has thus become one predominant concept in the recovery paradigm and PSWs are specialized in peer support. Yet, not much is known about the efficacy of PSWs from a consumer's perspective of personal-civic recovery. The five principal research questions are whether this online intervention will have an impact in terms of (Q1) personal-civic recovery potential and (Q2) clinical recovery potential, (Q3) how these potentials can be impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, (Q4) how the lived experience of people in recovery can be mobilized to cope with such a situation, and (Q5) how sex and gender considerations can be taken into account for the pairing of PSWs with service users, beyond considerations based solely on psychiatric diagnoses or specific MHPIs.
