Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

Rationale : The emergence of the novel, pathogenic SARS-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) threatens public health. To date, there are no effective drug option to prevent the infection, nor therapeutics for controlling the deadly COVID-19. However, the majority of patients infected with SARS-Cov-2 eliminate the virus by mounting a protective antiviral immune response, associated in particular with the production of neutralizing antibodies. Neutralizing antibodies could be of particular interest for therapeutic purposes, but also for preventive applications, to protect people who have never been in contact with the virus, or immunocompromised patients. The objectives of this study are : - To generate human monoclonal antibodies neutralizing SARS-Cov-2 from immortalized B cells of convalescent patients. - To compare the serological profiles between convalescent patients that develop mild or uncomplicated illness and convalescent patients that develop a more severe disease, that required hospitalization and oxygen support. - To compare for each patient the neutralizing efficiency of plasma to the neutralizing capacities of the monoclonal antibodies generated with immortalized B cells.

Elderly, hypertension, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are risk factors for COVID-19 morbility and mortality. However, the real reason for this is not yet understood. It is well documented that gut microbiota has a critical role in health, particularly in the immune system and therefore, we propose that gut microbiota composition could affect vulnerability and disease outcomes of COVID-19.

The purpose of this study is to collect French medical data for patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or NeuroMyelitis Optica (NMO) spectrum disorder who are diagnosed or strongly suspected of being infected with Covid19. The objective of this study is to provide scientific information regarding the possible risk factors in these patients, as a large part of them receive immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive treatments. The main objective of this study is thus to determine the epidemiological (eg, age, form of disease, disability) and pharmacological (related to immunomodulatory or immunosuppressive treatments) factors favoring the occurrence of a severe form of Covid-19 in MS and NMO patients.

Participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive Colchicine plus current care per UCLA treating physicians versus current care per UCLA treating physicians alone (control arm). Importantly, this adaptive trial design allows for patients in either study arm to receive other investigational drugs for COVID-19 as new science emerges.

"For 12 years, the odontology service of the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital group (GHPS) has been responsible for day and night dental emergency care. Several surveys have been conducted in order to analyze the sociological characteristics of the patients and the typology of the acts performed. These studies indicate that pain is the main reason for consultations, cited by 60 to 80% of patients. So far, very few studies have been done in the context of emergencies. Very recently, a study was undertaken on the satisfaction of patients consulting the odontological emergencies of the GHPS, during a thesis work. This study, carried out in collaboration with the URC Pitié Salpêtrière, under analysis, relates to the satisfaction of patients consulting the odontological emergencies of the GHPS during the day and week, Monday to Friday, excluding night and week emergencies -end (WE). An additional study (URGDENT-NW) aiming at completing this study by focusing on patients consulting the emergency room at night and during the weekend is also in progress. The COVID19 Crisis changed the organization and the venue of patients at the emergency dental service. Therefore this project, based on the same protocol as URGENT and URGDENT-WE, aims at evaluating the Odontology Emergency Reception Service (SAUO) during the COVID 19 epidemy. It will be carried out in the form of a survey whose objective is to assess: on the one hand, the effectiveness of the care provided in this emergency functional unit, and on the other hand the satisfaction of the patients after their passage to the emergency room ."

Study of Biomarkers in the Long-term Impact of Coronavirus Infection in the Cardiorespiratory System
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) poses a significant threat to global health. As the disease progresses, a series of acute complications tend to develop in multiple organs. Beyond the supportive care, no specific treatment has been established for COVID-19. The effectiveness, both short-term and long-term, of some promising antivirals, such as the hydroxychloroquine combination with azithromycin, needs to be evaluated. This study aims to investigate the predictive role of cardiac biomarkers and pulmonary symptoms for late complications of COVID-19 coronavirus infection on the heart and lung in patients treated with the hydroxychloroquine / azithromycin combination therapy. Thus, COVID-19 coronavirus patients undergoing hydroxychloroquine / azithromycin combination therapy will be compared to patients not undergoing this therapy. The comparison will be made by the analysis of the relationships between (1) levels of ultrasensitive cardiac troponins collected at the beginning of the infection and cardiac magnetic resonance data in the 3rd and 12th months of troponin collection and (2) findings CT scans and the results of the ergospirometers tests performed in those same periods. It is expected to demonstrate that: (1) cardiac troponin and lung tomographic findings can predict late complications of COVID-19 coronavirus infection in the heart and lung, assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance and ergospirometers one year after the beginning of the infection, and (2) hydroxychloroquine / azithromycin combined therapy can abolish the onset of these complications late. Furthermore, the results may point to the need for more rigorous monitoring of cardiologists and pulmonologists of these patients, due to the risk of hemodynamic complications, arrhythmogenic and respiratory.

On 17th March 2020, 198 193 confirmed cases (7 730 in France) of COVID-19 infections and 7 854 deaths (175 in France) have been reported from 8th December 2019 in 157 countries. The rapid increase in cases on french territory has led to the transition of France to level 3 of the epidemic on 14th March 2020. The natural history of the disease is still poorly understood, especially prognostic factors, which are crucial for the best medical care of patients in times of epidemics, when hospital capacities are under pressure. A better knowledge of natural history, of prognostic factors, the development and validation of new diagnostic tests, the evaluation of medical care, will lead to a better medical care of patients infected with COVID-19.

The current outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has been marked by severe psychological problems. People around the world experienced a similarly frightening public health emergency, on a global scale, with the spread of this corona infection. (1) Studies of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreaks that occurred in Canada, Taiwan, and Hong Kong found that the enormous emotional burden carried by those health care workers who were on the front lines of the battle against the disease led to psychological morbidity like anxiety, stress and even further leads to Post traumatic stress disorder. The initial phase of the COVID-19 outbreak in China in 2020 also reported more than half of the respondents rated the psychological impact as moderate-to-severe, and about one-third reported moderate-to-severe anxiety in general population.(2) - The chances of Fear, anxiety and stress are even higher in Individuals with preexisting liver disease as they have restriction of services for getting treatment. Moreover, they can have the following additional issues: - Fear of severe form of Corona present (as presented in most of the media and research) - Fear of dying - Added uncertainty - Family members also worried
