Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a prospective study involving 50 patients, with acute SARS-CoV-2 infection and a positive RNA detection. Men will give semen, saliva, urine and blood specimens following RT-PCR diagnosis and 15, 30, 60 and 90 days after. SARS-CoV-2 RNA will be detected in seminal plasma, native semen cells and processed spermatozoa. The purpose of this study is to seek the presence of SARS-CoV-2 in semen, to determine its localization and infectiousness and to assess the efficiency of spermatozoa processing methods to obtain virus free spermatozoa.

Our previous work on plants has indicated significant antimalarial and antiviral activities. Of these plants, two recipes are proposed for evaluation for COVID-19. It is Cinchona, an antimalarial and a combination of 4 plants with antiviral, antimalarial, antitussive and anti-inflammatory properties. The phase II clinical trial, with three arms and at a rate of 77 patients per arm, received the approval of the National Committee for Ethics and Health Research. This is a non-inferiority test aimed at comparing the therapeutic impact in "add on" to Azithromycin, phytomedicines versus Hydroxychloroquine in asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. After 10 days of treatment, viral clearance and symptom progression will be assessed on days 3, 6 and 14. Clinical, paraclinical and laboratory tests will be performed throughout the 3-month trial. Ethical and deontological considerations will be applied

The phase II clinical trial, with three arms and at rate of 10 patients per arm, received the approval of the National Committee for Ethics and Health Research. This is a non inferiority test aimed to compare the efficacy and safety in add on to Azithromycin, an antimalarial drug, a treatment combination of the antimalrial drug with an antiviral phytomedicine versus Hydroxychloroquine in COVID-19 patients without complications. During the treatment, viral clearance, adverse effects related to treatment, and symptoms progression will be assessed on days 3, 6 and 14. Clinical, paraclinical and laboratory tests will be performed throughout the 3-month trial. Ethical and deontological considerations will be applied.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlights the importance of the prognosis of co-morbidities, such as coronary artery disease, which significantly increase the risk of mortality in patients infected with SARS-CoV2. Investigators have recently studied the complex links between respiratory infections, particularly pneumonia, and type 2 myocardial infarction (MI) in many respects. The etiology of type 2 MI is based on an imbalance of myocardial oxygen supply/need in the absence of rupture/erosion of atheromatous plaques. Based on the RICO survey data, the investigators investigated whether COVID-19-related sepsis and/or respiratory failure could be an underlying mechanism of MI2.

A crisis situation leads to changes in life. During December 2019, many people contracted pneumonia in the Chinese city of Wuhan. On January 7, 2020, the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) was identified as the cause of this disease. Within five months, the virus spread around the globe and forced countries to restrict public life. Due to the high infection rates in Europe, a lockdown followed between March and April 2020 (except in Sweden). As the number of infections decreased, European countries began to gradually relax the lockdown from May 2020. The lockdown and the later stages of loosening have an impact on lifestyle. Institutions of higher education must also adapt to this situation and have switched to distance learning. The University of Applied Sciences of Bern (BFH), Department of Health Professions with the Departments (DHP) of Nutrition and Dietetics and Physiotherapy, considers the question of the degree to which nutritional and exercise behavior has changed. The findings provide recommendations for future crises for students and employees of the BFH-DHP. In order to achieve this, at the BFH-DHP two anonymous online surveys will be conducted.

Communication with patients on their clinical status is important in delivering care in the emergency department. During times of high volume or complex patients, there may be lapses in communicating with patients about their hospital course or plans of action. These miscommunications may be enhanced during the current COVID-19 pandemic as there is minimized in-person interaction with patients in order to conserve personal protective equipment and decrease the risk of disease transmission. This study utilizes a virtual white board to deliver updates to patients about the status of their emergency department stay.

Introduction: The SARS-CoV-2 outbreak has left more than two million infected worldwide in the first four months of COVID-19 epidemic. To date, there is no specific treatment for the disease and in critically ill patients there is an additional challenge in controlling the systemic inflammatory response, which is characterized by cytokine storm, alteration in coagulation and endothelial activation in addition to infection. Strategies used in previous viral epidemics, such as convalescent plasma, are therapeutic options to rescue, especially in individuals with a critical presentation of the disease. Aim: To establish clinical response of critically ill patients with COVID-19 who received convalescent plasma from subjects recovered from SARS-CoV-2 during their stay in Intensive Care Unit at Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia (Hospital Internacional de Colombia). Methodology: Quasi-experimental study (no randomization will be performed). Adult patients who meet selection criteria will receive 500 ml of ABO compatible convalescent plasma, obtained by apheresis from patients recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. The main outcome will be in-hospital mortality at 30 days, while indication for ventilatory support (intubation) and adverse events at thirty days will be evaluated as secondary outcomes, compared to subjects receiving usual treatment for clinical sign and symptoms given the absence of ABO compatible plasma units. A survival analysis will be performed using Kaplan-Meier method and association strength will be reported using HR and 95% CI crude and adjusted for confounding variables. Expected results: It is expected to know the clinical and paraclinical response of patients receiving convalescent plasma in our institution, as well as to establish their probability of survival and its associated factors.

The aim of the study is to identify the knowledge that CCSPT nurses have in relation to care aimed at addressing anxiety, fear or loneliness and the use they have made of it in the recent crisis. The design of the research/action will also enable the training of the participating professionals to improve nursing care in these areas in the future
