Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The purpose of this open label, 2-phase, study is to obtain information on the safety of 80 ppm and the safety and efficacy of 150 ppm Nitric Oxide given in addition to the standard of care of patients with COVID-19 caused by SARS-CoV-2.

Our aim is to conduct a pilot single-blind randomized controlled trial to examine the preliminary efficacy of a 14 day app-based pulmonary and mobility focused rehabilitation program (intervention arm) versus a self-guided exercise program (active control arm) on pulmonary and functional outcomes in 100 patients tested for COVID-19 infection and isolated at home.

The effect and impact of postponing cardiac surgery / creating a waiting list as a result of COVID-19 on patients, both psychologically and symptomatically on three groups of patients: 1. The degree of anxiety and/or depression induced by their altered medical care trajectory. 2. The incidence of medical problems induced by deferred elective surgery or delayed postoperative ambulatory visit 3. The occurrence of reduced access to medical and psychological help

Study of SARS-CoV2 Virus (COVID-19) Seroprevalence in the Population of Creil Air Force Base (BA110)
In mid-February 2020, within the Oise (France) cluster, a case of COVID-19 disease caused by a SARS-CoV2 infection was described among the personnel of the Creail Air Force Base (BA110). This resulted in the beginning of an epidemic controlled by epidemiological measures. One month later, containment measures were taken at the national level, measures that also applied to BA110 personnel. These personnel, exposed to both the initial phase of the epidemic and national protection measures, represent an extremely interesting population for understanding the epidemiological dynamics of the virus, particularly at a time when France is lifting the containment measures. It becomes extremely important to understand the levers of viral spread in order to adjust the health measures to be maintained as best as possible. The main objective of this study is to determine the extent of virus diffusion in this highly circulating population, as evidenced by several identified cases of COVID-19.

Increased Risk of SARS-CoronaVirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) Infection Associated With Endoscopy (DECORE Study)
The aim of our study to compare the proportion of patients who develop SARS-CoV-2 disease in 3 groups: patients undergoing a abdominal ultrasound examination in a Specialty Center, patients undergoing endoscopic procedure in a third level hospital with CoronaVirus Disease (COVID-19) hospitalization plants and patients who make a telephonic visit (do not go to the hospital) in the digestive system service.

Physician burnout has a significant impact on the wellness and productivity of physicians as well as patient health outcomes. Managing burnout among frontline workers is critical to Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to support frontline workers and reduce inefficiencies and medical errors frequently linked to burnout, ultimately improving our ability to detect, treat and manage COVID-19 cases. Therefore, this trial aims to assess the effects of an 8-session intervention over 3 months for burnout in physician residents in residency programs in Canada and the United States of America during the COVID-19 pandemic. This trial will provide evidence to inform health system management and public health response early and effectively so as to maintain the integrity of our workforce during and post-pandemic. The virtual delivery platform renders the proposed intervention easily disseminated internationally, in low- middle- and high- income countries and across urban and rural cities.

This study is being conducted to evaluate the efficacy of acupressure in promoting health and well-being among healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The investigators hypothesize that providing participants with a remote and standardized self-acupressure training program will improve HRQOL and the perception of stress. In the event that the study demonstrates acupressure to be safe and effective for this indication, the training could be scaled up and deployed at low-cost nationally and internationally.

In order to safely and effectively reopen businesses and universities across the US, institutions will need to develop approaches to rapidly identify COVID-19 cases and manage their spread while balancing program effectiveness, feasibility, costs, and scalability. The investigators will evaluate the implementation of a COVID-19 screening program that coordinates several existing systems at the University of Pennsylvania including saliva-based viral testing and test different outreach strategies (opt-in vs opt-out) to improve program enrollment.

There is a considerable variation in the disease behavior in terms of contracting the infection, manifesting none to a range of symptoms and severity of the infection among individuals exposed to or infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative organism of COVID-19. Although the respiratory system appears to be the primary target of this virus infection, emerging evidences suggests involvement of extra-pulmonary organs including central nervous system. We aim to compare the genetic profile of individuals with vs without COVID-19 after being exposed to infected cases. Additionally, we will assess the cognitive function in covid-19 positive cases with vs. without neurological symptoms at the time of infection and 1-month follow-up using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) questionnaire.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate different types of exercise programs (virtual group-based exercise program; personal exercise program; wait-list control) across 12-weeks on the physical and mental health of older adults during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
