Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

This is a Phase 1, open-label study to evaluate the safety profile of CORVax +/- pIL-12, (electroporated SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein plasmid DNA vaccine with or without the combination of electroporated IL-12p70 plasmid.
Instituto de Investigación Hospital Universitario La Paz
This is a phase I/II clinical trial using adoptive cell therapy with NK cells or memory T cells in patients affected by COVID-19. Severe cases with COVID-19 present a dysregulated immune system with T cell lymphopenia, specially NK cells and memory T cells, and a hyper-inflammatory state. This clinical trial proposes the use of cell therapy for the treatment of patients with worse prognosis due to SARS-CoV-2 infection (those with pneumonia and/or lymphopenia). This is an innovative and a non-pharmacological intervention.
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
The purpose of this study is to measure immunity to the flu vaccine over time in patients who had COVID-19. Adults who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 as well as controls without COVID-19 will be invited to participate in this study.

The 2019 novel-coronavirus (2019-nCov) is the cause of a cluster of unexplained pneumonia that started in Hubei province in China. It has manifest into a global health crisis with escalating confirmed cases and spread across many countries. In view of the fact that there is currently no effective antiviral therapy, the prevention or treatment of diseases caused by COVID-19 can be tough for current treatment. This study is a phase I clinical trial of booster vaccination of adenovirus type-5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine 6 months after prime vaccination. The investigators intent to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of booster vaccination of adenovirus type-5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine in healthy adults aged aged 18-60 years.
Mayo Clinic
The purpose of this research is to determine if CGM (continuous glucose monitors) used in the hospital in patients with COVID-19 and diabetes treated with insulin will be as accurate as POC (point of care) glucose monitors. Also if found to be accurate, CGM reading data will be used together with POC glucometers to dose insulin therapy.
Beijing Minhai Biotechnology Co., Ltd
This study is a randomized, double-blinded, and placebo controlled phase Ⅱ clinical trial of the SARS-CoV-2 inactivated vaccine to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the experimental vaccine in healthy adults ⩾18 years.
Butantan Institute
This is an open-label uncontrolled study in which all participants will receive two doses of the inactivated adsorbed vaccine against COVID-19, and will be followed up for safety and immunogenicity analysis for 24 months.
Zagazig University
After SARS-COV-2 inactivated vaccine authorization for use in different countries including Egypt, investigating its immunogenicity, safety, and efficacy in preventing COVID-19 infection is highly needed. In Egypt, immunization of HCWs in isolation hospitals by SARS-COV-2 inactivated vaccine is now a national priority. Moreover, data and reports regarding the application of vaccine are still limited and deficient.
Pfizer
Results will be submitted, however please note that data are not yet available for all serology outcome measures. This will be a Phase 2/3, randomized, placebo-controlled, observer-blind study evaluating the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of 30 µg of BNT162b2 or placebo administered in 2 doses, 21 days apart, in approximately 350 healthy pregnant women 18 years of age or older vaccinated at 24 to 34 weeks' gestation. Participants will be randomized 1:1 to receive BNT162b2 or placebo (saline).

Treatment of Severe COVID-19 Patients Using Secretome of Hypoxia-Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Indonesia
In this randomized controlled trial (RCT), severe cases of COVID-19 infection will be treated with secretome of hypoxia-mesenchymal stem cells. The improvement in clinical, laboratory, and radiological manifestations will be evaluated in treated patients compared with the control group.
