Around the world, researchers are working extremely hard to develop new treatments and interventions for COVID-19 with new clinical trials opening nearly every day. This directory provides you with information, including enrollment detail, about these trials. In some cases, researchers are able to offer expanded access (sometimes called compassionate use) to an investigational drug when a patient cannot participate in a clinical trial.
The information provided here is drawn from ClinicalTrials.gov. If you do not find a satisfactory expanded access program here, please search in our COVID Company Directory. Some companies consider expanded access requests for single patients, even if they do not show an active expanded access listing in this database. Please contact the company directly to explore the possibility of expanded access.
Emergency INDs
To learn how to apply for expanded access, please visit our Guides designed to walk healthcare providers, patients and/or caregivers through the process of applying for expanded access. Please note that given the situation with COVID-19 and the need to move as fast as possible, many physicians are requesting expanded access for emergency use. In these cases, FDA will authorize treatment by telephone and treatment can start immediately. For more details, consult FDA guidance. Emergency IND is the common route that patients are receiving convalescent plasma.
Search Tips
To search this directory, simply type a drug name, condition, company name, location, or other term of your choice into the search bar and click SEARCH. For broadest results, type the terms without quotation marks; to narrow your search to an exact match, put your terms in quotation marks (e.g., “acute respiratory distress syndrome” or “ARDS”). You may opt to further streamline your search by using the Status of the study and Intervention Type options. Simply click one or more of those boxes to refine your search.

The analysis method described in this protocol is a novel simple plausible immunological approach which is non-invasive, high throughput, real-time quantitative monitoring of metabolic activity (MA) profiles of fresh Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMC) in response to various reagents at different concentrations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the T cells reactivity to SARS COV 2 immunogenic selected peptides by Metabolic Activity Method in convalesce and healthy individuals and to compare it with Antibody response (ELISA) and clinical information

COVIDTrach aims to assess the outcomes of tracheostomy in mechanically ventilated patients with COVID-19. The use of personal protective equipment and incidence of COVID-19 amongst operators is also recorded.

The primary objective of the study is to determine whether, at 21 days, care homes that implemented near-patient daily testing have a lower rate of confirmed CoV-2 infections than care homes following the DHSC standard of care testing of symptomatic residents.

The research aims to determine the impact of a syndromic mutiplex PCR assay (FilmArray) on the management of patients hospitalized in ICU for severe respiratory disease. During the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak, the diagnosis of pneumonia has become considerably more complex as the biological, radiological and clinical criteria of covid-19 interfere with the standard criteria for the diagnosis of severe respiratory diseases. Moreover, patients with COVID-19 are at higher risk of developing other associated infections and thus, patients have therefore often been treated with antibiotics, adequately or not, due to difficulty to quickly identify the etiology of their symptoms with conventional methods. In order to improve their treatment, both diagnostic and therapeutic, we set up a new syndromic molecular test in our laboratories to accelerate and improve the pneumonia management and antibiotic stewardship. This research will include 100 to 150 adult patients hospitalized in ICU during the first half of 2020. It will take place within the Nancy University Hospital and the Reims University Hospital, France.

As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spreads across the world, the intensive care unit (ICU) community must prepare for the challenges associated with this pandemic. Providing an efficient care to the patients of the most severely affected category - intensive care unit (ICU) patients - has become one of the serious problems appearing in the COVID-19 pandemics. A typical patient's clinical portrait in ICU of COVID centers is very similar in different countries, however, the key to improve the treatment results for critically ill patients has not yet been found. Data on predictors of severe course in COVID-19 is limited. Knowledge of predictors of severe course of disease can lead to different selection of therapeutic strategy, determine the group of risk of patients for severe course of disease, and improve outcomes.

There is a lack of knowledge about how many children are infected with SARS-CoV-2, how often they are asymptomatic, and how long the immunity persists. The main purpose of this study is to measure antibodies to SARS-CoV-2, symptoms, and risk factors in a representative cohort of children and adolescents in the canton of Zurich, Switzerland, shortly after re-opening of the school system and thereafter. The study also investigates antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in parents of the children and school personnel.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted anesthesia care all over the world. There remains very little data on current practice patterns and patient outcomes, particularly in anesthetized children. This is a prospective observational, multi-center study to investigate airway management related outcomes in children undergoing anesthesia during this pandemic. The investigators will compare the incidence of complications (particularly hypoxemia) in patients with COVID-19 to those who are COVID-19 negative during airway management. Prospective observational trial in patients admitted to ICU diagnosed with COVID-19 requiring invasive mechanical ventilation. Characterization of Reverse Triggering asynchrony during the first 5 days of invasive mechanical ventilation and other asynchronies, and its correlation with different outcomes.

This study will evaluate the feasibility of self-sampling with the iAMP® COVID-19 Detection Kit (Atila BioSystems, Mountain View, CA), a new, low-cost SARS-CoV-2 test that does not require RNA extraction. The investigators will compare the sensitivity and specificity of the iAMP® assay on self-sampled mid-turbinate, anterior nares, and saliva swabs against the gold standard, a nucleic acid amplification testing assay on a clinician-collected nasopharyngeal swab.

A sequential combination of different antibodies test against SARS-CoV-2 is evaluated. The protocol included a rapid test and several ELISA tests within a defined cohort of healthcare workers.
